Week 3 - 2024
Had a lovely mix of events & press opportunities this week, along with a little bit of a flu. It’s been wonderful watching friends like Lizzie Gillett prepare for their Sundance premieres. Getting the annual email about the documentary ski day at the festival made me miss Park City even more, but hoping to be back there next year!
✅ Attended a preview of POWER created by Earthrise Studio
On Monday night I headed to Screen on The Green in Islington to support our clients Earthrise Studio, on the launch of their new series, POWER. It was great to see such a diverse crowd at the sold out event. The series gives an overview of the current energy crisis, how our politicians are currently listening more to lobbyists than the constituents that they serve, and a call to action for communities to stand up for a fossil free future. The panel featured Tessa Khan (Founder of Uplift, and a co grantee of the Polden Puckham Foundation, who support our climate work).
We previously worked with Patagonia on a series called ‘We The Power’, which had similar themes about the energy crisis. It was a full circle moment where Alice Aedy (Co-Founder & CEO of Earthrise) had hosted a Q&A for that launch with Agamemnon Otero (CEO of Energy Garden), and then she invited him to take part in POWER.
Watch the first episode of the series below.
✅ Featuring on BBC Radio 5 Live Wake Up To Money
This week I was one of the featured guests on the early morning BBC Radio 5 Live morning show ‘Wake Up To Money’. We discussed a variety of current affairs topics and their impact on business and the economy. It was great to include mentions of the following films within the programme:
Fashion Reimagined - in relation to the latest Burberry earning report. Burberry hosted a great screening of the film to discuss their current sustainability focus.
COPA 71 - The film will be released in the U.K. on International Women’s Day (March 8th) via Dogwoof. We are supporting audience engagement via the football community for the release. With Dan working at QPR we have some unique understanding of how the industry work, and it helps that our Head of Marketing & Partnerships, JP Pierrot is obsessed with the game.
Invisible Nation - Not a direct project of ours, but I am a big fan of Ted Hope and the Director Vanessa Hope, so it made sense to reference this film within the current context of the elections in Taiwan.
✅ Improved our project onboarding processes
As the company is growing we needed a better way to process incoming requests and ensure that our producers felt informed about the way in which our collaboration will work. We have therefore spent the last few months creating a refined overview of each of our service offerings, and developing a new onboarding process document for our teams. It is definitely working. Our contracting time is reduced, our teams ask fewer questions as we give them way more information on day 1, and our productivity has increased.
I will always add a note about systems improvements where I think it might help others. Our onboarding document is about 15 pages long and covers all of the key areas that build successful working relationships such as objectives, timeline, meeting frequency etc.
